| This is the third year Mike and I have been lucky enough to participate as photographers for the Pat Lonsdale fund raiser to benefit the Humane Society of Sarasota County. The Party with Pat was held at the Bird Key Yacht Club on Friday evening May the 12th 2006. There was an open bar and sit down dinner. Entertainment by Jay Goodley. There was dancing, raffle drawings, silent and live auctions, with Ray Collins of Fox 13 news as the MC. The golf tournament was held on Saturday May 13th 2006 at the Longboat Key Club-Harbourside. Shotgun start was at 12:30, with approximately 100 golfers attending. There was also a putting contest, 50/50 raffle, prizes to the winning teams and a barbecue to wrap up the event. I would have to say a good time was had by all. HSSC depends primarily on donations, bequests, and fundraisers; they receive no financial support from The Humane Society of the United States, The Animal Rescue Coalition, or from tax dollars. The Humane Society of Sarasota County shelters about 4,000 abandoned pets each year. With about 25 paid staff, the 200 plus active volunteers are vital to the success of the Humane Society of Sarasota County.
