Downtown Sarasota

Downtown Sarasota is my favorite place... so I'm just a little biased! A common practice for locals, as well as visitors, is to stroll thoughout downtown. The downtown area is also host to many art shows, the local farmers market, and cultural events. An annual reading festival is held at five points park beside Selby public library. With many authors local to the Sarasota area, the event is always colorful, unique and entertaining. The same park is host to the Humane Societies annual howl-o-ween fundraiser for pets and their people. Sarasota has a wide variety of restaurants, art galleries, shopping, the symphony, theaters,

and a great bay front with a marina. Below is a picture of Marina Jack, with downtown Sarasota in the background. Marina Jack is a restaurant along with a marina for all types of boats.

In the downtown area, condominiums are more prevalent than single family homes. The Sarasota landscape is ever changing and evolving with new condominiums, businesses, and culture.

What are known as Sarasota beaches are actually located over the bridges onto LongBoat, Lido, and Siesta Keys. From downtown Sarasota these beaches can be reached in approximately 15 minutes, depending on season.

Yes, Sarasota does have seasons. In season, high season and out of season. In season is when the snowbirds start to arrive, mid October. High Season is January Through March and out of season is from Easter until October. This however fluctuates depending on how bad the weather is up north.
