This area is just south of Tampa Bay, on the west coast of Florida...on the Gulf of Mexico. Manatee County has many communities, one of the biggest being a country club community called Lakewood Ranch. The heart of Manatee County is the thriving city of Bradenton. Two of the barrier islands just off the Bradenton mainland are Anna Maria and LongBoat Key. The lower half of Longboat Key is located in Sarasota County, just off the mainland of the city of Sarasota. Other keys located just off the mainland of Sarasota are St. Armands Circle, Lido Key, Bird Key. An additional key, partly located in the city, is Siesta Key, internationally known for it's white sandy beaches. Heading south, still in Sarasota county, are Osprey, Nokomis, and Venice. Just off this area of the mainland is Casey Key, located just south of Siesta key, in the Gulf of Mexico.
